Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership for Healthy ChurchesStandard entry requirements are:
a. A degree in Theology or Religious Studies with at least second-class honours of 55% from an approved institution; OR
b. A degree in in any discipline with at least second-class honours of 55% from an approved institution, AND evidence of at least 3 years’ experience in church ministry or church leadership AND successful completion of an entry assessment; OR
c. Evidence of at least 5 years’ experience in church ministry or church leadership AND commendation by a national church denomination or body that is recognised by the World Council of Churches, AND successful completion of an entry assessment.

An entry assessment (where needed) will consist of submission of a written assignment set by the College (typically a 3000-word essay, in English) and interview via a suitable online platform. The assignment will be marked according to typical criteria for graduate level work, by a member of the College academic staff. Taken together with other evidence and interview, the College will determine whether the applicant has the necessary academic potential for postgraduate study of theology, i.e. competency in theological knowledge, understanding and critical thinking skills.

MA in TheologyPathway 1:For those with a higher education qualification in theology

The standard entry requirements are:
A degree in Theology or Religious Studies with at least second-class honours of 55% from an approved institution; OR

A degree in any subject with at least second-class honours of 55% and an additional qualification from an approved institution at level 4 (Certificate HE) or above, with marks at merit or higher, in Theology or Religious Studies.

Pathway 2: – for those without a higher education qualification in theology

The standard entry requirements are:

A degree in any discipline with at least second-class honours of 55% or above from an approved institution; AND

Successful completion of an entry assessment. (further details below).

Applicants who do not meet the standard entry qualifications, or who do not have a higher education qualification in theology, will be assessed by the submission of a written assignment set by the College (typically a 3000-word essay), evidence of relevant experience, and/or interview. Ministry

Delivery is by distance Learning
Degree in Theology (at least upper 2nd class) and a minimum of two years’ experience in Christian ministry or mission, for which a period of training has been completed at least two years prior to the start of the course.

Candidates with a qualification in Theology or Religious Studies at Diploma level may be admitted to the Postgraduate Certificate in Ministry with the agreement of the Admissions Committee. On successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate they will be permitted to enrol on the Master of Ministry.

All suitable candidates will be invited for an interview.

Professional Certificate in Ministerial FormationStudents are admitted to the Professional Certificate in Ministerial Formation on the basis of their suitability for ministerial and chaplaincy training in addition to the standard academic qualifications.

All qualifying ministerial and chaplaincy applicants are invited to an interview day for a series of interviews to discern their suitability for the course.

The minimum academic qualification for admission to the Prof Cert MF for Baptist Union students is a HE Diploma in Theology.

The minimum academic qualification for students from other denominations is a level 4 Certificate in Theology and substantial experience in ministry

Students are admitted to the courses on the basis of a combination of academic and personal factors.  All applicants receive an extensive interview.

This course in full time and part time mode (either on campus or by online learning) is registered with Student Finance England. If you are eligible you can get a masters loan to pay your fees. To find out more, please click here.

A deposit of £300 and registration fee of £600 is payable when accepting an offer. The deposit for the Master of Ministry and MA Digital Theology is £150 and the registration fee is £850.

 

Language requirement:

If your first language is not English or you are not a UK citizen, we require you to take an IELTS (academic). The score required is an average of 7.0; the score for reading and writing bands must be 7.0.
