Thursday 12th June

College Conference is both the name given to the association of former students of Spurgeon’s College and an actual conference which is held on the second Thursday in June each year.

Our incoming Conference President is Revd Dr Clive Burnard who was the ‘Regional Minister for Transition and Transformation’, with the Yorkshire Baptist Association, and is about to serve as interim pastor at Javea International Baptist Church in Spain in the six weeks preceding Conference.

Clive’s chosen theme is ‘Transformational Servant Leadership: Leading in The Way of Jesus’.

During the course of the day we will consider together what is meant by Servant Leadership, Transformational (Visionary) Leadership and how both paradigms may combine to create TSL. How applicable or even effective, are such paradigms and practices in congregationally governed, theocratic communities? What, if any, are the advantages and benefits of TSL and how may it be fruitfully applied in our own communities and ministry and mission settings? What is ‘Fierce Humility’ and what might ‘Leading in The Way of Jesus’ actually look like?

We are excited to welcome guest speakers Revd Chrissy Remsberg, Revd Dr Alex Harris and Revd Kwame Adzam. Paul Friend will also provide a video contribution. More details will follow soon.

This event will be held in the chapel and grounds at Spurgeon’s College. The cost of the ticket includes lunch and refreshments.

Attendance at Conference is by invitation only. If you have not recieved your invitation then you may have dropped off our mailing list. Please update us by completing a form using the link below.
