The main train line into Central London is only 20 minutes walk from College and shopping in Croydon is only a short journey. The London Overground trains, with excellent connections to east and north London, are also just a 20-minute walk away.

You can use the Transport for London Journey Planner at the bottom of this page to help find your way to Spurgeon’s College. Wharncliffe Gardens is the bus stop right outside College on South Norwood Hill. Alternatively, please follow the more detailed instructions below.

By Road

The College is on the A215, about two-thirds of the way up South Norwood Hill between Wharncliffe Gardens and Grange Gardens. The entrance is clearly signposted. There is parking space in the grounds of the College. If you are using a Sat-Nav to get here, you will need to enter 189 as well as the postcode. A tall radio transmitter shaped like the Eiffel Tower provides a local landmark near the entrance to the College.

By Bus

From the Elephant and Castle, take the 468 bus towards South Norwood Hill. The bus stops opposite the College entrance at the Wharncliffe Gardens request stop. This journey can take anything up to an hour! Cross the road to the College entrance. You can also catch the 68 bus from central London (Euston Station, Waterloo Station) but it terminates at West Norwood station and you need to change onto the 468 or the 196.

London Overground trains also travel to Crystal Palace station, from where you can walk to South Norwood Hill or catch the 249 bus towards Clapham Common.

From West Norwood station (on the Victoria to London Bridge line via Clapham Junction) you can travel on either the 196 or the 468, see bus section above.  The same two buses also serve Tulse Hill station which has direct trains from Kings Cross / St Pancras.
